Bernice I. (Kartes) Hofer

Bernice Irene Hofer (nee Kartes) passed away on October 3rd, 2018, peacefully with Robert at her side in Brookfield, WI.  Bernice was born on June 10, 1931, to Harry and Ethel Kartes in Milwaukee, WI.  She attended Bay View High School.  She married Robert F. Hofer on October 11, 1952 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Bay View, WI.  They moved to San Diego, California while Robert was enlisted in the service.  She and Robert returned from California to Milwaukee, WI where they raised their six children and then retired in Plainfield, WI.

Bernice is survived by her loving husband Robert of 66 years.  Devoted mother to Ruth, Michael (Leslie), Janet (Bobby), Thomas (Cheryl), Catherine (Steven) and Paul (Patricia).  Grandmother to Jill (Jason), Benjamin, Eric, Heather (Eric), Bridget (James), Angelia (Chris), Tiffany (Michael), Zachary, Robert, Matthew, Allison (Ian), Bradley, and Brian.  Great-Grandmother to Isaac, Logan, Alexa, Elijah, Elliana,  Madelyn, Niamh, McKenna, Lincoln, Ethan, Bailey Rae, Abilene, Rylie and one in the oven.  Sister-in-law Marion, Mary and Grace.

Bernice will be remembered by all for her sassy personality, as a loving mother, grandma and great grandma.  She lived her life with dignity and grace, providing an example for those she leaves behind.  She will be forever in our hearts and greatly missed.
