Betty J. Mau, age 91, of rural Plainfield, passed away Saturday afternoon, May 30, 2015 at Maple Ridge in Stevens Point.
She was born June 9, 1923 in Bancroft, the daughter of Dennis and Mina (Sherman) Stainbrook. She married Harold A. "Bud" Mau on February 5, 1944 in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2006.
Betty loved her family and had a passion for helping and caring for others. This passion lead her to the Wild Rose Manor and River Pines Nursing Home in Stevens Point where she worked as a nurse's aid. After retirement, she and her husband moved to Rhinelander for several years before moving back to Plainfield to be closer to family and friends.
She is survived by her loving children, Judith (Chuck) Crawford, Almond, Carol Scantlin, Plainfield, Allen (Toni) Mau, Plato, MN., Janice (Pat) Gustafson, Elgin, MN., Karen McClure, Midwest City, OK., Alvin (Deb Jacobson) Mau, Westfield, David (Cathy) Mau, Bancroft; her loving grandchildren, Jim (Destaye) Crawford, Christy (Ray) Wysocki, Matthew (Ivonne) Scantlin, Denice (Kyle) O'Leary, Nicole (Craig Neu) Mau, Richard Mau, Vicki (Richard) Hitchcock, Kristin (Will Weems) Gustafson, Michael Gustafson, Ryan (Val) McClure, Jessica Mepplink, Joseph (Melissa) Mau, Anna (Justin) Davis, Megan (Brian) Tikkanen, Jeff (Ashley) Mau, Carrie Mau, Tyler (Olivia) Mau; 21 great grandchildren; one sister, Darlene Gear, Wisconsin Rapids; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She in addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and four brothers, Burl, Glen, Arlie and Russell.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Leikness & Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield with the Rev. Howard Kruze officiating. Burial will be in the Plainfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the funeral home.
