Billie Golla

Billie Ray Golla, age 75 of Plainfield, died Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at his home with his wife by his side following a brief battle with cancer. He was born on December 28, 1939 in Portage County to Ray and Dora (Beggs) Golla. After graduating from Tri-County High School in 1957, Billie entered the United State Marine Corp. While he was stationed in Germany, he played basketball for the Marine Corp and traveled all over Europe. He was honorably discharged in 1960. He farmed for a number of years in the Township of Wautoma and worked at Campbell Tree & Land. Later, Billie then went to work for the Wisconsin Dept. of Natural Resources in the Fish and Water Habitat Management Department and retired after 33 years. On September 12, 1992 he married Linda (Butts) Sagami at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield. Billie enjoyed watching the Packers, Badgers and NASCAR, his favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt.

Billie is survived by his wife: Linda Golla, Plainfield; children: Madonna Rykken, Minnesota, Matt Golla, Minnesota, Bill (Theresa) Golla Jr, Arkansas, Nick Golla, Junction City, Ed Golla, Washington, Haruko (Chris Studinski) Sagami; sister: Ireta (Dick) Bentley; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers: John and Stanley “Stosh” Golla.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11AM on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Plainfield with burial in the church cemetery and military honors accorded by the United States Marie Corp Honors Team and V.F.W. Post 343. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 5-7PM with a Prayer Service at 7PM. The visitation will continue on Saturday at church from 10AM until the time of Mass at 11AM.
