Blanche G. Sigourney, age 85, of Wautoma, formerly of Hancock, passed away Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Heartland House.

She was born August 26, 1932 in Hancock, the daughter of William and Mina (Mitchell) Howard.  She married Bryce Pierce Sigourney on November 15, 1952 at the Hancock United Church of Christ. He preceded her in death on February 7, 2010.

Mrs. Sigourney was a member of the Hancock United Church of Christ where she has been a member since the age of 13 and later shared her musical talents and was the organist for several years.  Blanche shared her love of people by working as an educator teaching kindergarten, 1st grade, 4th grade and 5th and 6th grade students at Hancock and Plainfield schools.  After retirement she continued to show her love for children as a substitute teacher.  Her love for the Hancock community was evident in her dedication to the Hancock Citizens Club, the Legion Auxiliary and her serving as Village Treasurer for 19 years.

She is survived by her children, Mitchell (Patti) Sigourney, Eileen Sigourney, Charlene (Jim) Small, Kevin (Jackie) Sigourney, Corey Sigourney; her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Sigourney; her grandchildren, Matthew (Donna) Sigourney, Melina (Shad) Cummings, Nathan (Jennie) Sigourney, Justin Sigourney, Riley (Lauren) Garcia, Kelsey (Konstantine) Garcia, Branda (Pedro) Vieyra , Claire and Ethan Sigourney; her great grandchildren, Mason (Danielle) Sigourney and Hayden and Sammy Sigourney, Jesus and Amara and Xavier Vieyra, Jayce Garcia, Ben, Carson and Mckenzie Sigourney and Addilyn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bryce and son, Ed Sigourney and granddaughter, Sydney Small; two brothers, Samuel and William and one sister, Sylvia Howard.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:30 A.M. in the Hancock United Church of Christ.  Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. in the Stahl Funeral, Plainfield and from 9:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of services at the church.  To share your condolences or a special memory with Blanche’s family, please visit, www.stahlfuneralhome.com
