Biography
Celia A. Schubert, age 72, of rural Wautoma found her eternal rest on August 9, 2011 following a valiant battle with cancer. She was born June 20, 1939 and resided on the family farm in the Town of Dakota for 46 years until the DNR purchased the beautiful piece of Waushara County countryside. Celia worked on the family farm and cared for her mother for many years, she was also was employed at Realist in Berlin, pickle and canning plants as well as a caregiver in a nursing home. She found a great deal of enjoyment in providing rides for those who did not drive and had many tales about her travels. She loved the Casinos and why not?....she had an uncanny streak of luck that almost consistently put her in the winner's circle! She played and bingo and loved to fish. She was also a great source of local lore and history and enjoyed conversation. Every late spring and early summer she was the "strawberry girl" who came with boxes of berries for those who weren't able to get out and pick them. She wasn't shy about sharing her opinions or emotions but was quick to forgive and move on. She will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Adolph E. and Laura A. (Sauer) Schubert; three brothers, Daniel, Gordon, and Martin Schubert. Survivors include four sisters, Edna (Elmer) Ernst, Champlain, MN., Irene Reinhart, Wautoma, Ella Gable, Wautoma, Hazel (John) Novotny, Plainfield; one brother, Laurence (Doris)Schubert, Elk River, Minnesota. She is further survived by nephew, David Gable along with other nieces and nephews. Celia had many close friends especially, Garland Peterson, Ruth Wenzel, Diane Bushweiler and Terry Tinkle. The family wishes to thank the Doctors and nurses at Wild Rose Hospital and the staff of Wild Rose Manor for their gentle care during her last days. Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church in Wautoma with Rev. George J. Kafer
officiating. Burial will be at Richford Cemetery. Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
