Biography




Charles R. Saeger, age 77 of Bancroft and Hancock, died in Friday, October 16, 2015 at House of the Dove Hospice Care Facility. He was born on June 3, 1938 to the late Robert and Ella Mae (DeWitt) Saeger in the town of Grant on his Saeger grandparents homestead. Charlie served in the US Army with the 32nd Infantry Division with the Artillery during the Berlin Crisis and was a Red Arrow Artillery Man. He worked at the Biron Paper Mill for many years and also worked at Rothermel Trucking in Plainfield and for the Township of Grant. Charlie was also involved with the Bancroft Lions and made the best French Fry's when he was on the fryers. After his retirement, Charlie was farming with his son Garry and you could always know where he was on the Farmall H Tractor. He enjoyed spending as much time with his family as he could. Some of his hobbies were camping with the kids, deer hunting, playing cards and being supervisor over all the farming business. Charlie will be missed greatly by family and friends.
Charlie is survived by his daughter: Lori (Rick) Yach, Plover; sons: Robert (Laura) Saeger, Bancroft, Garry (MaryAnn) Saeger, Stevens Point; five grandchildren: Krystal (Derek), Charlie, Rick, Kelsi, Zach; four great grandsons: Kaden, Kase, Derek Jr, Dalton; sister: Betty Jane Petrusky, Bancroft; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson: Jamie and great granddaughter: Klaire

Funeral services will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Almond. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Tuesday evening, October 20, 2015 from 4-8PM and again on Wednesday at the Church from 10AM until the time of services at 11AM. Burial will take place at Plainfield Cemetery with full military honors graveside.
