Douglas Roger LaPoint, died on March 30, 2025 in his sleep while spending a weekend with old friends reminiscing their good times together during Canada fishing trips. Doug leaves behind his wife Pascale (Plietzsch) LaPoint, sister Danielle (LaPoint) Weber, niece Julie Weber, parents-in-law Peter and Ute (Wagner) Plietzsch, brother-in-law Sven Plietzsch, and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roger and Alegra (Soper) LaPoint.

Doug was born in Oshkosh, WI in 1962. After graduating from Oshkosh West high school, he joined the Marine Corps and served four years as a tuba player in the Marine Corps band stationed on Okinawa, Japan. He went to college at UW Stout in Menomonee, WI where he graduated with a bachelor's degree. His first job took him to the Twin Cities, MN and then he moved to California for a few years. After returning to the Midwest, Doug's career spanned many opportunities in computer support, network engineering and technical writing.

Doug and Pascale married in 1998. The couple first made their home in Minneapolis, MN and then in Fridley, MN. They have two dogs, Sam and Didi. Doug and Pascale retired from their corporate jobs in 2022 to enjoy the things in life that really count.

Doug was fiercely loyal, kind, and compassionate. He had a wonderful sense of humor and told great stories of his many exploits. He stayed in touch with countless friends from different phases of his life. He was a member of the B-Squad softball team for the last 25+ years. He loved computer projects, making videos, taking pictures, creating music play lists, playing with his dogs, traveling, hiking, and spending time with his many friends and relatives. In his later years he joined his wife in leading kirtan (sacred chanting), becoming an accomplished hand drummer and singing with a beautiful and stirring voice. He gave wonderful long hugs - one could sink into his warm and loving embrace.

Doug leaves a hole in our lives too great to begin to describe. He will be missed terribly but his love and warmth will stay forever with us. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. Stahl Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with arrangements, www.stahlfuneralhome.com
