Biography
Elana Marie Polaske, age 71 of Neshkoro, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 27, 2013 at Berlin Memorial Hospital. She was born on February 2, 1942 in Stratford, SD to Perry and Bertha (Radke) Solberg. The family then moved to Forbes, ND and in 1951 they moved to Aberdeen SD where Elana graduated from Aberdeen Central High School with the class of 1960. She then attended Northern State Teachers College on an Art Scholarship. On October 23, 1961 she married Dale Palmer in Webster, SD. In 1969 Elana moved to White Bear Lake, MN where she worked in automotive parts sales and as a realtor. In 1990, Elana moved to Florida where she met Clarence Polaske. The couple was married in 1997 and moved to Neshkoro in 2000. Elana enjoyed gardening, restoring her historic Victorian mansion in Berlin and collecting antiques. She was also an active member of St. James Catholic Church in Neshkoro.
Elana is survived by her husband: Clarence Polaske, Neshkoro; sons: Del Palmer, Frankfort, SD, Brian Palmer, Hugo, SD, Tim (Susan) Polaske, Omaha, NE, Robert (Lisa) Polaske, Sussex, Paul (Susan) Polaske, Milwaukee; daughter-in-law: Susan Polaske; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and son: Matthew Polaske.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, May 30, 2013 at St. James Catholic Church, Neshkoro. Officiating at the Mass will be Father Dale Grubba with burial at a later date in Riverside Memorial Cemetery in Aberdeen, SD. The family will greet relatives and friends at church on Thursday from 9:30Am until the time of Mass at 10:30AM.
