Gerald John Marfil Sr. (Jerry), age 72, went home to be with the Lord on January 5, 2015 at his residence in Plainfield, WI. Jerry was born on October 3, 1942 in Fairfield, CA to Herman and Concha Marfil. Jerry graduated from Vacaville high school in 1960 where he excelled in football. On February 6, 1965, he married the love of his life, Diana Capps. He loved to fish and spend time working in his yard, garden, and riding his lawn tractor. Jerry worked for Travis Air Force base as a Haz cargo inspector from 1963 to 1998 at which time he retired and moved to Wisconsin. In 1979, Jerry came to know the Lord as his personal Savior. While in California, he served as a deacon and worked with the youth at Calvary Baptist Church. After moving to Wisconsin, Jerry became an active member of Greater Point Baptist Church in Stevens Point. He loved working on the bus route, and passing out candy to the children of the church. The kids loved to call him the "candy man". Everyone who knew Jerry was touched by his friendship. Many lovingly called him papa. His greatest passion was his family. Jerry and Diana were married for 49 years at the time of his home going. They were only one month shy of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. They were blessed with three children. Jerry is survived by his wife, Diana, their three children: Theresa (Richard) Vines of Plainfield, WI, Michelle (Jason) Hill of Stevens Point, WI, Gerald (Marnie) Marfil, Jr. of Fairfield, CA and nine grandchildren: Carrie (Ben) Jenson of Vermont, Jon (Julie) Vines of Westfield, WI, Carissa Vines of Plainfield, WI, Jordan, Kirsten and Jacob Marfil of Stockton, CA, Aubrey, Jason J., and Michael Hill of Stevens Point, WI and a new great grandchild to come, Bailyen Syndy Jenson. He is also survived by Herman (Wanda) Marfil and their families of Vacaville, CA., Christine (Harry) Rogers and their families of Vacaville, CA and Idaho, Debbie (Robert) Crespo and their families of Vacaville, CA and Oregon, Robin Rossitano and her family of Vacaville, CA. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Concha (Connie) Marfil. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the Greater Point Baptist Church, Stevens Point with the Rev. Woody Baumgartner officiating. Burial will be in the McDill Cemetery, Stevens Point. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the church and from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of services at the church.
