Harlan E. Nigh

Harlan E. Nigh, age 76, of Bancroft, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday June 27, 2023 at his home.

He was born October 5, 1946 in Adams the son of George and Charlotte (Hartman-Ennenga) Nigh.  On August 9, 1967, he married Karen A. Campbell and together they had four children, Shelly, Bobbi, Chris, and Jessica.

Harlan spent most of his life in the Plainfield area where he attended Tri-County High School graduating in 1966.  After graduation he served his country in the United States Navy. He was in IT and after 4 years of service, he was honorably discharged.  When he returned from the Navy, he worked as a farmer and mechanic and eventually started his own business as a semi and auto mechanic.  In his later years, he drove tractor for Guth and Mortensen Farms.  He enjoyed working with his hands, crafting many wood projects. He liked being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also loved spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Karen A. Nigh; his children, Shelly, Bobbi (Leon), Chris (Dawn); grandchildren, Jimmie (Kristina), Billy, Niki, Toni (Chris), Kevin (Lilly), Zach (Hannah), Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Aubree, Marlee, Haelan, Madison, and Carson; brothers and sisters, Irv, Elwyn, Harvey, Orin, George, Brian, Denise, and Elveta; further survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Jessica and siblings Hugh and Charlene.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
