Helen R. (Hartwig) Timmermann

Helen Ruth (Hartwig) Timmermann, age 91 of Wautoma, WI joined her Savior on August 31, 2024 at Heartland House in Wautoma.

Helen was born on August 12, 1933 in Montello, WI to Rev. William Hartwig, pastor at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran in Montello and Elsie (Ebert) Hartwig. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s, Montello.  After attending Dr. Martin Luther College, Helen received her call to teach at St. Matthew Ev. Lutheran Church and School in Milwaukee. She married her principal’s son, Donald N. Timmermann on August 25, 1957 at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Kiel, WI where her father was then pastor.

The Lord blessed Don and Helen with four sons: Thomas, Daniel, James and Robert. After 11 years of teaching, Helen changed careers and became a secretary. She served 19 years in that position at Wisconsin Lutheran High School, Wisconsin Lutheran College and at Synod’s Parish Services.

Helen is survived by her husband Donald, her children Thomas (Karin) Timmermann, (Rhonda) Timmermann, James (Bobbette) Timmermann, and Robert Timmermann. She is blessed with eight grandchildren: Rev. Nathaniel (Rachel) Timmermann, Ashley (Andy) Szczepaniak; Jessica (Richard) Sternard; Emily (Nathan) Grunwald; Abigail (Nickolas) Krueger; Naomi (William) Johnston; Adam Timmermann; and Evan Timmermann. Her many blessings also include twelve great-grandchildren and many dear friends.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. & Mrs. Hartwig; her son Daniel; her sister Esther Fahl and her brother Rev. Paul Hartwig.

The Lord has given, and the Lord has taken away. May the name of the Lord be praised.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church(335 W. Prairie St.) in Wautoma. Visitation at the church will be from 9:00-11:00am. The service will begin at 11:00am.
