Kathryn E. (Beggs) Hotchkiss

Kathryn E. Hotchkiss, age 75, of Bancroft, passed away Tuesday afternoon, May 14, 2024 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.

She was born December 6, 1948 in Chicago, the daughter of Richard Beggs Sr. and Lauretta Zielinski.  She married Leroy A. Hotchkiss on May 26, 1973 in St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.

Kathryn moved to the Bancroft area in 1952 where she raised her family and became very active in the community.  She started her working career at Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point and later worked at Bancroft Bank and cooked at different restaurants in the area.  She was a beloved dance instructor for over 20 years, teaching hundreds of children her love of dance. She was a community leader volunteering as a 4-H Leader, Girl Scout Leader, a religious education teacher at St. Paul’s and was the Town Clerk of Bancroft for a few years.

She is survived by her loving husband, Leroy A. Hotchkiss; two daughters, Holly and Jean Hotchkiss; four grandchildren, James, Jonathan, Abigail, and David; her brother, Richard “Rick” (Julie) Beggs; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Patrick, and one sister, Carollee.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, May 21 in the Stahl Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Burial will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Bancroft.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 21 from 09:30 a.m.  to 11:30a.m.  until the time of services.  Stahl Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements, www.stahlfuneralhome.com
