Lucy C. Porter

Lucy Catherine Porter , age 87, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2023, in Hancock, Wisconsin, after a brief battle with cancer.

She was born on December 6, 1935, in Chicago, IL. Lucy lived most of her life in the Chicago area. She loved to cook and especially liked the show, “Cooking with Grandma Gina,” as she always said that Grandma Gina reminded her of her mother, Julia. Lucy was even known to join in when Grandma Gina would sing in Italian. Lucy had a passion for completing jigsaw puzzles, and she loved mowing the lawn on her riding tractor.

Lucy is survived by her children David Porter (Karol), Linda Turay (Andy), Jennifer Porter of Dubuque IA, and Janet Moore; her grandchildren Jacob Porter, Matt Porter, Ben Porter, Doug Turay, Abby (Austin) Turay, Katie Wylie, her great grandchildren Jack and Ben Wylie; her sisters Carmella Otrembiak and Nancy Scalise, further survived by nieces, nephews, and special friends including Bill Richardson and Mark Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her sons Paul and Edward, her sisters Ann Marie Liposky, Frieda Teufel, and her brother Mike Messere.

Lucy liked things to be simple and always encouraged patience.

A Celebration of Life mass will be at St. Columbkille Church, Dubuque, Iowa, at 11:00am Tuesday, June 6, 2023. Burial will take place immediately following at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Dubuque.
