Madeline J. “Maddie” Callahan, age 80, of rural Hancock, passed away peacefully, October 9, 2022 at Heartland House Retirement Community in Wautoma.
She was born March 9, 1942 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Henry and Mary L. (Thurston) Baillod. The family moved to Hancock when Maddie was very young.
She married Walter J. “Jim” Callahan, her High School sweetheart, on September 5, 1964 in Plainfield. Jim preceded her in death on April 29, 2022. Maddie was a faithful member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.
She is survived by her two daughters, Stacy (Kevin) Bickett; Renee Callahan; her six Grandchildren, Dylan (Alexa), Amanda (Andy), Sabrina, Jonas, Jacob, Jessie; six Great Grandchildren; and two sisters, Louise (Frank) Barnett, JoAnn (Dave) Seibel. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many special friends. Maddie was preceded in death by her parents, infant son Craig, and her brother Henry (Shirlee) Baillod.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022 at 11:00 am at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until a parish rosary service at 10:30 am at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to St. Paul’s Catholic Church or Hancock Public Library.
