Margaret A. “Margi” Guth, age 72, passed away after a one-year battle to cancer, on January 7th, 2023, with her loving family at her side.
Margi was born on December 29, 1950 in Wisconsin Rapids, WI, to Charles and Mildred (Smith) Pratt. The youngest of three girls, she grew up in Plainfield, WI, and graduated from Tri County High School. Margi continued her education at Fond du Lac College for her love of Music and Business Administration. During college break, Margi met Tom Guth at Almond’s Tater Toot, and 5 months later married on January 15th, 1972, one of the coldest days in the record books. The couple attended St. Martin’s Catholic Church, raised three daughters, and worked together on their family farm.
Margi enjoyed being around people. At a young age she began her waitressing career at Ron’s and for the next 25 years it also included Gary’s and the Farmhouse. She always had a smile on her face, loved her guests and made the best pies. Margi was active in her daughter’s and grandchildren’s lives- leading a Girl Scouts meeting, teaching a Catechism class, and attending a band concert or sporting event. As a farm wife, she made many homemade meals, harvested her own garden vegetables, and spent endless hours canning beans, pickles, and corn. She spent her retirement years babysitting her grandchildren, working part time at Bancroft State Bank, and meeting up with her girlfriends for a social hour. Margi’s favorite travel destinations were to Sioux Falls, SD, to be with her cousins or a winter escape to Disney World in Florida.
Those she leaves behind are her husband of 50 years, Tom, her daughters, Joanne Coyle, Jenni (Bryant) Stempski, Janelle (Chris) Bentley, and 8 grandchildren: Ethan Coyle, Carter Coyle, McKenna Coyle, Megan Bentley, Richie Bentley, Sophia Stempski, Jacob Stempski, and Hayden Stempski. She is further survived by her sisters Cathy (Dick) Jorgenson, Barb Arendt, a niece Jill (Ken) Jorgensen-Bagwell, Kurt (Lori) Arendt, Eric (Kristen Jezeski) Arendt, and many more family members and friends.
Margi was preceded in death in death by her parents, her grandson, Johnathan, and her nephew, Kevin.
The family would like to thank all the medical professionals at the Cancer Center Marshfield Clinic (Stevens Point), the Almond/Plover First Responders and EMT's, and the Marshfield Medical Center- River Region Hospital for their compassion and help throughout her battle with cancer.
