Marlyn G. Wilcox, age 96, of Plover, formerly of Plainfield, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, December 20, 2022 at his home surrounded by family.

He was born December 12, 1926 in Waushara County, the son of Willard and Rose (Schumacher) Wilcox.  He married Eunice Pionke on April 7, 1951 in Almond. She preceded him in death on October 1, 1998.

Marlyn was raised in Waushara County and later served his country in the United States Army.  After serving his country, he returned to the area where he was employed at NEPCO (Nekoosa Paper Company) for 37 years until his retirement.  Marlyn was active in the Plainfield community where he volunteered on the Plainfield Fire Department for 35 years serving as fire chief and secretary/treasurer.  He also drove school bus for Tri-County Schools (Rothermel Bus Services) and also drove semi for Plainfield Trucking when his schedule would allow.  Was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his children: Jackie Sorensen, Plover, David (Dena) Wilcox, Laguna Nigal, CA., James (Lyly) Wilcox, Lynchburg, VA., Ken Wilcox, Plover, daughter-in-law Birgit Wilcox, Denver, CO.; grandchildren: Justin (Jessica) Wilcox, Port Angeles, WA, Kyle Sorensen, Plover, Laura Sorensen, Plover; great grandchildren (known as G-Papa): Bret and Kasey Sorensen, both of Plover, Julianna and Josephine Wilcox both of Port Angeles, WA; further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers; a granddaughter, Stefanie Wilcox and daughter-in-law, Lori Wilcox.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, January 6, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.  at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Plainfield.  Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
