Mary Ann Margaret Helmbrecht, age 86, passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at Heartland House.
She was born February 9, 1937 in Antigo, the daughter of the late Peter and Juanita Helmbrecht. A lifelong resident of Antigo, she graduated from Holy Cross of Antio. She continued her education at the University of Stevens Point receiving her Master’s Degree in education. She taught at White Lake, Lake Wood, Townsend and Kimberly as a Reading Specialist.
In 1980 she moved to Wild Rose where she continued as a Reading Specialist for 15 years. She ran the reading program in the district as the Title 1 Specialist for 12 years. She also taught the migrant program in the Wild Rose District making her Teaching career for over 50 years total.
She was married to the late Jim Ehlers on June 14, 1958 then married the late Allen Ladewig on October 13, 1978. Her significant other Fred Fleck whom she met May 8, 2000.
She is survived by her siblings, Barbara, Peter, Bill, Thecla, Michael and Susan; her children, Kathy (Mert) Wolf, Karen (Calvin) Ort, Jeff (Terry) Ehlers, Kristy (Cory) Hedrick, Kim (Jody) Jansen, Lance (Sharal) Ladewig and Gary (Erika) Ladewig; 29 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons Jamie and John, brother, Marty, her sister, Beth and niece, Kessa Karina.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 12 noon in the Stahl Celebration & Remembrance Center, Wautoma. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of services.
