Biography
Myron S. "Mike" Kerschner, age 82, longtime Coloma businessman passed away early Tuesday morning, September 14, 2010 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield. He was born February 7, 1928 at Wabeno, WI., the son of Elmer and Mary(Beck) Kerschner. He married Monica R. Ely on September 2, 1950 in Milwaukee.
Mike was a 1945 graduate of Hancock High School. He served his country in the Army during World War II. Later, he graduated from the Wisconsin Institute of Mortuary Science in Milwaukee. He worked as a licensed Funeral Director for A.S. Hamilton and Son Funeral Homes in Hancock and Coloma. In 1953, he founded Kerschner's Gas Service, Inc. of Coloma and enjoyed working there until his retirement. Mike was a faithful member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma where he served as president of the congregation for a number of years. He also served on the Coloma Village Board for 20 years and was Village President for 10 years. He belonged to the Coloma Lions Club and Rogers-Oestreich American Legion Post 343, Hancock/Coloma.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Monica R. Kerschner, Coloma; three sons, Mark (Pam) Kerschner, Coloma, Matthew (Jacci) Kerschner, Coloma, Martin (Amy) Kerschner, Appleton; 11 grandchildren, Jody (Christopher) Rabe, Oshkosh, Michael (Brenda)Kerschner, Coloma, Nathan Kerschner, Rio Grande City, Texas, Megan Kerschner, Coloma, Chelsey Kerschner, Coloma, Dustin Kerschner, Waukesha, Katie Kerschner, Schaumberg, IL., Marissa Kerschner, Coloma, Aric Kerschner, Coloma, David Kerschner, Appleton, Anna Kerschner,Appleton; six great grandchildren, Jordan, Alex, Christina, Isabella, Chloe, and Ava; two sisters, Lucille Charlton, Coloma, and Orpha Beinborn, Boscobel. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his son, Mitchell Jon Kerschner on March 10, 1997; his parents; two sisters, Marian Eaton, Ethel Valley, and by one brother in infancy.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Coloma with Pastor Kelli Fischer officiating. Burial with full military honors will be at Hillside Cemetery, Coloma.
Visitation will be held on Saturday at the Church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services.
