Susan "Sue" H. (Sorenson) Gear 93 of Plover died peacefully on January 8th at the Portage County Healthcare Center in Stevens Point. A funeral service will be held at Stahl Funeral home in Plainfield on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at 1:00 p.m.. Family will receive relatives and friends beginning at 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Susan was born on May 11, 1930 in Coloma WI, the daughter of the late Alvin and Doris (Parkin) Sorenson. She was married to the late Emmett M Gear on September 24, 1949 in Coloma WI. Their marriage was blessed with 3 sons Jerry, Lee & Greg.

Susan managed the Plainfield Truck Stop restaurant for 20 years. She and Emmett farmed over 500 acres along with their sons on the family farm outside of Hancock. In 1992, after retiring, she and Emmett decided to start raising exotic animals and along came "What's Next Place". They enjoyed sharing these animals with the children that came to visit from nearby schools. In 2001 they moved to Plover for medical reasons. Sue enjoyed polka dancing with Emmett, playing cards with neighbors, flower gardening, cheering on the Brewers, cooking, baking, watching birds in her yard and her family. She lovingly took care of her husband at home during his long battle with Alzheimers.

Sue will be deeply missed by her 3 sons, Jerry (Marilynne) Gear of North Charleston SC, Lee Gear, Greg (Lynn) Gear of Plover; Her 9 grandchildren; Michelle (Aaron Wanta) Gear, Jay (Charisse) Gear, Dianna (Fred) Walter, Kari Gear, Nathan Gear, Christina (Chad) Patrin, Lisa (Eric) Wysong, Nicholas Gear and Jennifer (Brian) Kersey, along with her 20 great grandchildren; Kevin Garlow, Dalton & Brodi Gear, Jacob, Bradley & Ellie Walter, Jordyne Borgesi, Brooke, Kylie, Kaitlyn, Karsen & Paisley Gear; Breynn & Gavin Patrin, Mia, Eric Jr, Grace & Avigail Wysong, Archer & Oliver Kersey.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her many caregivers through Lakeland Care & Synergy, Marshfield Cancer Center of Stevens Point, Heartland Hospice and Portage County Healthcare Center.
