Sylvia S. Fisher left this world to be with Jesus on Sunday morning December 5, 2016 at Heartland House, Wautoma, Wisconsin.

Sylvia Fisher, 96, was born in a 30 room Cairo Egyptian Castle. Sylvia was Armenian by ancestry. Her family fled genocide in Turkey and settled in Egypt. She attended an English school and was tutored at home in six other languages.  She was fluent in English, French, Armenian, Turkish, Italian, Greek and Arabic.

After high school she worked at an U.S Navy Hospital. During WWII she was secretary to the commander of a Royal Air Force Base. Sylvia, age 33 years, traveled with her mother to America to join her sister.

In Milwaukee, she married her husband, the late, Gordon Fisher. They moved to Berlin, Wisconsin.  Together they had a daughter, Yvette McGuirk (Jim), Virginia, and a son, Scott Fisher (Karen), Berlin. They have four grandsons, Tyler, Troy, Robert, David, and two great granddaughters, Skyler, and Lucy. Sylvia loved her special niece, Cindy Bird, Cedarburg, and her best friend, Linda Freudenthal, Wautoma.

She enjoyed the endless numbers of friends from all over the world she met during the Oshkosh EAA airshow. For 34 years, her seven languages helped EAA guests feel welcome. Her adventurous spirit invited exciting plane rides in all different types of aircraft.  The more experimental, the bigger the thrill she would say.  Sylvia’s sparkle and smile will be missed by many.

She loved being creative, painting, making stained glass and glass etching.  She and her husband mastered stone and gem cutting. They enjoyed traveling and became touring ambassadors, conducting tours throughout North America and Europe, and served as Foreign Exchange chaperones to France.

Sylvia belonged to Crossroads Family Church in Wautoma where many friends will deeply miss her passionate love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Sylvia was proceeded in death by her husband, Gordon, her parents, Abraham and Flora, her brothers, George and Yervont Ishkanian, and sister, Amy Campbell and many relatives and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit with the family to celebrate Sylvia’s long full life on Friday, December 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Crossroads Family Church in Wautoma.  Service will be at 11 a.m, Pastor David Reilly will tell her story.
