Terrence A. “Terry” Gaatz, age 76 of Wautoma, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, June 10, 2022 at Aspirus Hospital in Wausau.
He was born September 11, 1945 in Wild Rose, the son of Harvey and Phyllis (Pfeil) Gaatz. He married Linda M. Ferrara on January 15, 1972 in Wautoma and celebrated 50 years of marriage in January.
Terry was a graduate of Wautoma High School. Terry served his country in the United States Army during Vietnam and received several distinguishing metals, Purple Heart, Bronze Star, National Defense Metal and Rifle Efficiency Honor. After serving his country Terry returned to Wautoma where he operated Terry’s Shoe Store and Repair. In 1971 he purchased the family farm and built his home. Terry and Linda operated Gaatz Pickle Farm for many years. After retiring, Terry enjoyed working for his son Josh at Bonnie Plants, in Wautoma. He was a member of the American Legion, Dept. of Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans and Veterans of Foreign Wars; Terry had many passions in his life, but non more than spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Terry is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Gaatz, Wautoma; three son, Jason (Jessica) Gaatz, Suamico, Jeremy (Sarah Wolf) Gaatz, Chicago, IL., Josh (Nicole) Gaatz, Wautoma; seven loving grandchildren, Penelope and Paisley, Harper, Henry, Harvey, Harrison and Leona; one brother, Dellos (Joan) Gaatz, Redgranite; his canine companion, P.P.; Further survived by other relatives and many special friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Emily and Fred Ferrara Sr.
